The History of PUMA

PUMA has been a major influence in the world of athletics and streetwear since 1948. The brand was founded by Rudolf Dassler, who’d previously worked alongside his brother, Adolf, to successfully run Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory. After a severe fallout, the siblings parted ways and established separate companies, with Rudolf naming his ‘Schuhfabrik Rudolf Dassler (RUDA),’ which would soon after become ‘PUMA Schuhfabrik Rudolf Dassler.’

The company found its first success on the football pitch, where players from the West Germany team wore pairs of PUMA boots that were part of the ATOM collection. Rudolph went on to build upon this creation with the SUPER ATOM, the first boots to incorporate screw-in studs. These shoes firmly established the brand as a key player in the football world.

In the years and decades that followed, PUMA expanded its product portfolio with athletic shoes for different sports (such as running and basketball) and lifestyle footwear and clothing. Today, the brand is popular among people from all walks of life, asserting itself as a market leader in the fashion and performance-wear industries.
