The PUMA Speedcat: The Iconic Sneaker That Blends Style & Speed

After over a decade in the archives, PUMA is back with a new, reimagined version of their iconic Puma Speedcat silhouette.

With its roots in motorsports, the shoe is synonymous with speed, precision and unparalleled performance.

Racing Heritage

Originally crafted as fireproof footwear for Formula 1 drivers in 1999, the PUMA Speedcat quickly accelerated from the racetrack to the fashion scene.

Debuting as a lifestyle sneaker in 2000, the iconic racing-inspired kicks launched in both mid-cut and low-cut versions. They gained major street cred when F1 legend Michael Schumacher, then driving for PUMA Team Ferrari, repped them off the track.

After a decade of street domination, PUMA celebrated its golden era from Y2K to Y2K10 with the launch of the Golden Speedcat in 2010—a tribute to the shoe’s lasting impact.

A Triumphant Return

Now back in the spotlight, the PUMA Speedcat has been reimagined while staying true to its roots.

The silhouette remains nearly identical to the OG, with the addition of a sleek Cat logo on the toe box and enhanced underfoot comfort for an even smoother ride.

These low-profile sneakers feature a supple leather upper, paired with a durable rubber midsole and outsole for long-lasting wear.

Designed with sleek, dynamic lines, they exude speed and confidence. Signature elements like the embroidered PUMA Cat on the toe and the iconic Formstrip along the sidewalls pay homage to the shoe’s rich racing heritage.
